Dr. Nikhilesh Rao Gorukanti or Dr. “Nick”, as he is affectionately known to his colleagues, grew up in the other town of Somerville, which is located in New Jersey. He pursued dentistry due to his love of the specialty and his desire to make a difference in patients’ lives. Dr. Nick firmly believes that patients’ oral health is a vital part of their overall health. He strives to use his science and artistic background to improve his patients’ oral health and to overcome cosmetic dental challenges.

  I am a dentist from Northern Vermont whose son lives in Somerville. He had an accident last night with his front tooth that will end up causing him to lose it the tooth. Yikes!
But thank gosh for Dr. Nick and his team… we called them today to take care of our son and the whole office was amazing.
Dr. nick was on the phone with me and his observations and recommendations were spot on. My son thought Dr. Nick was “amazing” and his manner so comforting in a stressful moment.
In our brief but spectacular experience, I can highly recommend Somerville Family Dental.

  Like many I have a great deal of anxiety about going to the dentist.
And because of this, I let my visits slide during the pandemic and then fell off the wagon completely. As a result I had eroded fillings and several cavities.

During my initial cleaning and consult, Haley was super accommodating and made me feel so comfortable. The office feels super well thought out, they have tvs with soothing imagery and sound, and it feels super clean and bright.

During my first appointment to fix my fillings, I was beyond nervous. But Madeline was so nice and friendly and Dr. Nick was so gracious and funny, and an expert at his craft. Not only did I not feel even hint of fear inducing sensation, he simultaneously talked me through what he was doing, while telling funny stories and making me feel so comfortable that a third of the way through I was no longer nervous.  They were also so thorough, moved quickly and efficiently and even took pictures to show me the procedure start to finish.

I am beyond grateful to not only receive methodical, thorough, and expert care, but also to work with a dentist who is funny and compassionate towards how I was feeling. Literally, the best dental experience I’ve had.

I have a few more fillings to do, and I’m literally not nervous at all now!

  Extremely positive experience. The practice is very well run. Friendly and helpful staff. The hygienist team is superb. And Dr Nick is a great doc and a great guy.   I've lived in 5 different cities and had countless dentists and this is by far the best experience I've had.  This dentist does not try to scam you for extra money and only recommends services that you really need.  My last dentist (Assembly Dental) charged me $25 just to have my own x rays emailed to me when I needed to switch and Somerville Family Dental just did that for free now that I'm moving, no questions asked.  I felt I was treated with respect here, they did a great job with my teeth and made good recommendations for care and referrals when needed.  I highly recommend this practice and wish that I could stay on as a customer!
